![]() ![]() Played the demo a fair amount last couple nights. The game is quite a bit shorter than the normal Soulslike fare, especially as there's only really one brick wall boss and I got past him so I expect anyone good at deflecting will have little trouble. But having played Dynasty Warriors ever should be enough. Much as Nioh benefits from knowing about the Sengoku Jidai (and RgG Ishin about the Bakumatsu), this game basically expects you to know who the 3K people are and thus be entertained by how they've recontextualised it. The protagonist makes friends with almost every protagonist of the early Three Kingdoms, beats the bosses and proves the power of friendship. To that end he distributes an evil elixir that powers folks up and demonifies them, justifying many boss fights. Luckily for him he is active at the start of the Three Kingdoms era so the second part is super easy. There is an evil Taoist dude who is trying to make the Ultimate Elixir to become immortal by enslaving a dragon and getting a whole bunch of people killed. I'm sure I can find that on reddit/a wiki but if anyone wants to sum it up I wouldn't mind. How long is the whole game? Nioh2 has an absurdly long NG+ cycle, though I usually lost interest before getting all the way through it.Īlso I'm a very impatient man and skip cutscenes, so I'm going to need an ELI5 on the story. I mostly stuck with a sword so i could be quick and dancey.Ģ hours all told. I only really used the "gain life on hit" one. Seems like magic is based on spirit and not per-bonfire? If so that sounds great. I didn't pay a lot of attention to my items or magic since it's just the demo. First boss in the demo took me maybe 10 tries. Feels like you have to dodge into it, like the Nioh2 feral counter? Took me a couple tries to figure out how to counter the red attacks. That's kind of annoying, but I guess I'll get used to it. The controls are different than fromsoft's games, and different than how I had Nioh1 and 2 configured. Maybe I should set it to not-english voices and just read the subtitles. The voice acting + dialogue seems kind of bad. I figured out how to dismiss the dude about 2/3rds of the way through my demo time. ![]() I play this kind of game to fight monsters, not babysit or be babysat. I played the demo to completion today (via Steam). ![]()
